The Best Dressed from the Met Gala 2014

The Met Gala is perhaps the single most important event in any fashionista's diary, with red carpet regulars such as Beyonce, Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintour dazzling us with their frocks.

The annual ball, which formally kicks off the Metropolitan Museum of Art's yearly Costume Institute exhibit always provides us with plenty of fashion inspiration, and this year the theme of the evening was a tribute to Charles James, America's First Couturier - so we can expect to see lots of over-the-top opulent gowns.

So, who made our Best Dressed list?
Flying the flag for British Fashion, Suki Waterhouse looked like she had stepped staight out of a fairytale in this Burberry gown (top left) while the pink pastel princess theme was also seen on Taylor Swift. The singer's Oscar De La Renta gown featured intricate beading and a long train.
The Gossip Girls dazzled in shimmering gowns, with Leighton Meester wearing an embellished Emilio Pucci number, and Blake Lively looking like a goddess in a champagne shade Gucci gown.

Our personal best dressed for the evening however is Rosie Huntingdon Whitely, whose Balmain dress featured leather, gold, and leopard embellishments. The shorter hemline bucked the tradition for the fancy soiree, and the actress accessorised with Balmain heels and hoop earrings.

While we may not be able to afford a Balmain number ourselves quite just yet, we can use FindSimilar through Trendabl to see what similar options are available on the highstreet. Our software has picked up on the patterns and shows some equally fabulous findings:
