Focus on Fall Fashion

Fall trends of this year are gradually being unveiled along with the major fashion shows in New York, London and Paris. Essentially ready-to-wear or extravagantly out of this world, this Fall season pieces have it both ways. Fleecy shearling and cozy knits are still the essential elements of most of the designers’ masterpieces. The most resonant ideas included sixties silhouettes and stunning evening gowns. However, there are some new style waves with inspiration from the searing color combinations and bold prints of an Ibiza heat wave. Let’s overview this Fall’s most worthy gearing up elements.

This season, designers cozied up to cuddly shearling. But of course Fall wouldn’t be Fall without furs. Miuccia Prada's color-blocked coats were definitely the highlights of this fur world on the runways and summed up everything for the shearling direction. Joseph Altuzarra’s wrap coat ushered in vibrant pink and green as the main bright color combination of the season, an inspiration that gained momentum at Dior and Balenciaga shows in Paris. Has there been a season in which knitwear claimed more runway real estate than Fall '14? Trust us, these weren't your run-of-the-mill sweaters. Michael Kors whipped up fisherman's cardigans with matching nubby scarves; and Phoebe Philo accessorized Céline's ribbed looks with luxe mink muffs. We believe the worldwide celebration of electronic dance music. This heat finally starts influencing our fashion world. Marc by Marc Jacobs revved our engines with BMX-inspired graphics; Dries Van Noten mashed up trippy, op art motifs; and the Kenzo and Proenza Schouler teams featured frenetic patterns. Normcore is more than a buzzy meme. Hugo Boss, Christopher Kane, Max Mara, Hermès all embraced the concept of standing out by blending in. When it comes to red-carpet fare, designers including Nina Ricci's Peter Copping, Mary Katrantzou, and Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci spiced things up with long dresses that were subtly sheer. They almost looked like tattoos on the body.

After a whole analysis for this Fall fashion trends, findSimilar would like to use the most advanced technology to find you the cool trendy pieces! No need to wait for the catwalk pieces to hit the stores next year, shop them now using findSimilar!

Top Trend Alert! Africa Fashion Week

Africa Fashion Week London is such an exciting event in the world of fashion as we are inspired by the amazingly bright colours and an array of pattern and texture! The designers bring new trends to the catwalks that we just can’t wait to fit into our wardrobes.
The key colours for this season are oranges, browns and greens which can be incorporated into tribal patterns. And it doesn’t matter how many different pieces you buy, the trick to the trend is layering. The designers have demonstrated that you can never have enough layers and mixing the prints works perfectly.
Mixing this with the current Kimono trend can add an element of the AFW designs to a simple, chic outfit if you aren’t daring enough to layer your patterns.
Any outfit should be finished off with intricate jewellery in silver or gold or perhaps some layered beads.
Some big names to look out for are Sylvia Owori and Tsholo. It’s going to be a bright and exciting week!

We've used findSimilar to shop the African trends now - here are our favourite pics!

Sporting the Trend with findSimilar

Sportswear has taken the fashion world by storm in the past decade. From trainers being made for fashion wear rather than their original purpose (which is what again?)  to Nike logos inco-operated into high fashion runway designs.  It’s pretty clear that tomboy style is coming back in more ways than one.

The ‘Sports Luxe’ trend has definitely been a hit on street style, globally. The physical trend is now being seen as much as it is on males to females thanks to a certain Karl Lagerfeld SS14! Londoners are certainly showing us that you can, in fact, have both comfort and fashion.

Even Net-a-Porter has created a frenzy in the sporting world with their new clothing line – ‘Net – a – Sporter.’ We absolutely love it and can’t wait to be jumping on board on July 9th!  Of course, going to the gym will be no catwalk but at least we can feel the part!

With such high fashion exposure, findSimilar are sure this trend won’t be fading out anytime soon.  So, here are some outfit inspired looks findSimilar have come up with.

How would you use findSimilar to ‘sport’ your new look?

Red : The colour of Men - using #findSimilar

Recent fashion speculations have observed RED is sizzling hot (we really do love our puns) for men’s fashion 2014. Burberry and Louis Vuitton have used the colour as a bold statement this summer and it is increasingly seen on global fashion icons across the colour spectrum from bold red to dark cherry and even blushing pale tones. A great way to warm up a miserable English summer!

Finally, a chance for all the real men to step up and take the challenge by being bold rather than the continuous season colours we tend to expect annually. With all the choice and the help of FindSimilar, its obvious you have no excuse not to make a fiery statement this SS2014. We at FindSimilar, used designers who are encouraging the trend to give you a head start on outfits that will automatically crimson – up your wardrobe. If you don’t feel comfortable going full strawberry then maybe opt for sample pieces that can add some fever to your wardrobe such as a tie or neck scarf.

So boys, we hope you make a heated appearance in the coming weeks and don’t forget to upload your own very look using FindSimilar, as we would love to see what you have come up with.

Fashion Focus : Ascot Ladies Day

One of the most fashion fabulous events of the year, today was Ladies day at Royal Ascot. Aside from winning the odd bet - the most exciting part of our day was frock-watching, and choosing the best and worst looks of the day.

As well as the Ascot classic of colourful florals, this year's Royal week also saw plenty of lace dresses, in vibrant hues from cobalt to coral. Many racegoers opted for one of summer's hottest (excuse the pun!) trends - a long glamourous black dress, and added a splash of colour with their hats. With huge plumes, and peacock feathers being the most popular embellishment of choice, as with every ladies day we were treated to a spectacle of designs.

With the fashion police (or Ascot Dress Code Assistants officially!) keeping watch on how you dress for Royal Ascot, be sure to remember the dress code rules; only a couple of inches above the knee, shoulders covered, no bare midriffs, and the hat base must be at least four inches for us girls. How on earth did Kimberley Garner get in then, we have to wonder?!

For outfit inspiration, you know what to do! Take out your phone, get a picture of a look that you love, and use Trendabl to findSimilar, just like we've done with one of the dresses from Ladies day today:

findSimilar at LC:M

Who said us girls should have all the fashion fun?! Twice a year, each January and June, we hand over the spotlight to men's fashion week for LC:M (that's London Collections : Men). With all the same glitz, glamour, shows and parties as LFW, the menswear community now hosts it's own three day event with established and emerging designers alike showcasing their new collections.

Now in it's fifth season, LC:M offers new designs from urban casual wear, through to Saville Row suiting. Oh, and did we mention that London is taken over by dapper looking men?!

With all our favourite hunks in attendance, from Tinie Tempah to David Gandy, there's plenty to look at if men's fashion doesn't spike your interest!

Our favourite designer so far is Christopher Raeburn - displaying his signature military style with an airforce style collection for SS15. The invitations were in the form of model planes, and gunshot sounds made up the background of the catwalk. The FROW were even treated to complimentary parachute backpacks!

If you are super impatient just like us, and just want to wear the trends now, then upload your favourite styles to Trendabl and use findSimilar to shop the look. We love this pink floral graphic design from Christopher Shannon, and uploaded it to find similar womenswear items available to buy now:

The Pull & Bear AW14 Press Day

Today we headed over to the Pull & Bear press day to check out their AW14 collection. We found it tricky to imagine wearing jumpers and jackets as the sun glared down on us for the hottest day of the year so far, but the collection offered a wintery outdoor feel with an Urban twist.

The menswear range featured a smart approach to traditional outdoor fabrics, with the sporty spirit of the brand present in all the designs.

The women's accessories were more trend led and featured novelties n terms of textures and materials. Iridescent and printed fabrics were key, revealing a sophisticated yet fun attitude to the collection.

Perfect for the sunny day, we were treated to delicious mexican food from Kimchary, as well as scrummy juices from Square Root London. As if we hadn't been spoilt enough, there was even a cactus for each of us to take home, they now have pride of place in the office!

Wonder what results a cactus would bring up on findSimilar...

Hmm, not sure this trend will catch on!
