The Berlin Fashion Week tradeshows held the key items you'll need to complete the look- fur gillets, collars and pom poms. And this autumn it appears to be a more committed love than ever, with designers such as Tommy Hilfiger being unafraid to pair checks with checks from head to toe, as we saw on the runway with a soft grey and red checked boyfriend coat, teamed with a matching skirt and a monochrome checked waistcoat. However If you’re not quite ready for a pair of tartan trousers like Cara, or a still waiting to wear that Emilia Wickstead inspired checked co-ord, then you can simply brighten up your outfit with a checked bag or a variety of tartan accessories. You can be bold and bright with a red tartan scarf, or be subtle and demure while still improving any outfit, from your work ensemble to the jeans/ top you wear to the shops, with a Stella Macartney or Marc by Marc Jacobs inspired tartan jacket or coat.

Fleecy shearling and cozy knits are still the essential elements of most of the designers’ masterpieces. The most resonant ideas included sixties silhouettes and stunning evening gowns. However, there are some new style waves with inspiration from the searing color combinations and bold prints of an Ibiza heat wave. Let’s overview this Fall’s most worthy gearing up elements.

This season, designers cozied up to cuddly shearling. But of course Fall wouldn’t be Fall without furs. Miuccia Prada's color-blocked coats were definitely the highlights of this fur world on the runways and summed up everything for the shearling direction. Joseph Altuzarra’s wrap coat ushered in vibrant pink and green as the main bright color combination of the season, an inspiration that gained momentum at Dior and Balenciaga shows in Paris. Has there been a season in which knitwear claimed more runway real estate than Fall '14? Trust us, these weren't your run-of-the-mill sweaters. Michael Kors whipped up fisherman's cardigans with matching nubby scarves; and Phoebe Philo accessorized Céline's ribbed looks with luxe mink muffs. We believe the worldwide celebration of electronic dance music. This heat finally starts influencing our fashion world. Marc by Marc Jacobs revved our engines with BMX-inspired graphics; Dries Van Noten mashed up trippy, op art motifs; and the Kenzo and Proenza Schouler teams featured frenetic patterns. Normcore is more than a buzzy meme. Hugo Boss, Christopher Kane, Max Mara, Hermès all embraced the concept of standing out by blending in. When it comes to red-carpet fare, designers including Nina Ricci's Peter Copping, Mary Katrantzou, and Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci spiced things up with long dresses that were subtly sheer. They almost looked like tattoos on the body.

This could be our favourite trend of Autumn/winter. we’re definitely not missing summer when we get to wrap up in these gorgeous pastel and camel wools. The trick to the trend is literally … wrapping up. Burberry left us lusting over those initialed blanket capes and now it’s one of the biggest looks of the season. Look for capes in browns and camel, offset with deep reds and blues and wear with tan knee high boots and skinny jeans as styled by Rosie Huntington-whitely.

New York fashion week went by like a whirlwind and there were some serious cases of style envy! When events go by so quickly, it can be difficult to take in everything you see and remember it. There were so many trends that we loved and will love to wear! Some of our favourites included A line skirts and yellow.

What was refreshing this fashion week was the way the colours are worn. We’ve seen pastels and yellows before but the NY catwalks styled them with monochrome patterns. In particular is this yellow skirt worn with a black and white jumper.
